Trish Cox, is a senior in the Mihaylo College MBA program here at CSU Fullerton and will be graduating this May. She received her Bachelor’s at Cal Poly Pomona in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management and Human Resources. After graduating from Cal Poly Pomona, she started her career as an HR Analyst at Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), a non-profit organization located in Pasadena. Trish has been working at JPL for about 5 years, but recently decided to make a career change. She just started a new position at Capital Group as a Senior HR Technology Analyst.
Trish tells us about her experience and how she was able to obtain this new position at Capital Group. “I’ve only been working full time for a little less than 5 years. My experiences have always been with Human Resources which is great since I graduated with a degree emphasizing HR. My tenure at JPL was only with HR and without my experiences there, I would have never been able to obtain my job today. JPL had developed me into a strong HR professional with a deep understanding in Workforce Analytics and Technology. I was looking to develop my career path and found an opportunity with the Capital Group companies. I applied back in Summer of 2011 and after a very long process I received an offer in December and started in January.”
Trish mentioned that by obtaining her MBA degree was a huge factor in getting this new position at Capital Group. She said she knew that she always wanted to pursue an MBA degree because she knew it would strengthen her professional background and also help her gain management skills. She chose to come to Mihaylo College because of the program’s strong reputation. She was attending school while working full-time and was able to complete her MBA degree within 3 years. She believes that she has received a good education at Mihaylo College and felt that it has been a very rewarding experience. Her favorite course that she took while in the MBA program was Organizational Development and Change Management with Professor Gerard Beenen. Trish has had such a good experience here that she recommended to her husband to pursue his MBA at CSU Fullerton in Mihaylo College also. She mentioned that her husband applied for the MBA for Working Professionals in Irvine (FEMBA) and was admitted and started Spring 2012.
Trish is very excited to be graduating this May and has mentioned that she still plans to stay within the realm of Human Resources in the years to come and has been very fortunate to have found a career in her field of interest.
