CSUF AMA hosts 5th Annual Mihaylo College of Business Tailgate

Join CSUF Business Clubs, Mihaylo College of Business Alumni, and Orange County business professionals for the 5th Annual Angels Tailgate & Mixer! The Angels are playing the Houston Astros on Friday, April 12th. Tailgating activities will begin at 4:30pm and continue until the game starts at 7:05pm.  Stay for fireworks after the game.

Each attendee will receive one game ticket, networking access, tailgate food, including burgers, hot dogs, snacks, drinks, and one bottled water to take into the game. When you pick up your game ticket at the tailgate, you will also receive a voucher for an autographed CJ Wilson Angels hat, which you can redeem once in the stadium at guest relations. Families Forward Internship

Description:

Families Forward seeks a Development & Communications Intern to provide support in the areas of fundraising, special events planning, grant writing, communications and community outreach.  Assist with and help implement fundraising strategies, marketing communications, public relations and community outreach for a respected 28 year old South Orange County non-profit organization.

Ideal candidate will be creative, energetic, have excellent communication skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work in a team-oriented setting. Candidate must have strong interest in non-profit fundraising and marketing and be comfortable working on a variety of different projects and tasks as needed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Assist with facilitation of various special events
* Assist with mailings for events and fundraising appeals
* Assist Grant Writer in reviewing and proof-reading grant proposals
* Assist with marketing and public relations efforts to Families Forward supporters and the local community
* Assist with general administrative tasks as directed by the Fund Development & Communications staff
* Occasional fundraising database maintenance (E-tapestry) 

Qualifications:

* Junior or Senior in college working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Non-Profit Management, Marketing or Public Relations is preferred
* Comfortable with Microsoft Office for Mac and/or PC
* Excellent writing skills
* Comfortable representing Families Forward to the public, on the phone and in the community
* Previous office experience a plus, but not necessary

 

A commitment of 8-12 hours per week is preferred for at least one semester.
Academic credit is available.

 Market recent case study to trade magazines
 Analyze email blast statistics and make recommendations to improve deliverability

Blogging
 Assess and critique blogging strategy and implementation of measurement and tracking methods
 Develop blog content
 Evaluate statistics and make recommendations for future improvements

Website/Search Engine Optimization
 Evaluate integrated internet marketing software that adequately supports sales and marketing goals
 Conduct market research on competitive keywords

Graphic Design
 Collaborate with marketing team to develop graphic design concepts and layouts for new brochure
 Assist with pre‐press production

Qualifications:
 Must be available to work 15‐20 hours per week during normal business hours(M‐F, 8a‐5p); schedule can be flexible
 Currently enrolled in a four year college or university (preferably a junior or senior) and working toward a college degree in Graphic Design, Web Development, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or Business Administration
 Computer literate and familiar with MS Office
 Competent in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver is a plus
 Strong work ethic
 Thrives in a dynamic work environment
 Proven ability to multi‐task

The 50+ segment represents over 1/5th of the US population and over $700 billion in spending power. However, many firms shift their marketing foci towards younger generations, and ignore the needs and vast opportunities of the 50+. This panel seeks to illuminate and demystify contemporary thoughts on the 50+ age group by looking at the following issues:
 
1) What are the needs, wants and desires of the 50+ consumer?
2) What considerations do are made to produce a product/service for the 50+ consumer? How might these considerations differ from other consumer segments?
3) How do companies market their products/services for the 50+ consumer?
 
Seminar Date, Time, Location:
The seminar is scheduled for Friday, May 4, 2011, 11:00am-12:30pm. The location is SGMH 1506 (first floor) in the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics.
