Mr. and Miss Business Crowned During Business Madness Week

Business Madness Week takes over Mihaylo College once again. Members of the Business Inter-Club Council (BICC) host multiple events throughout the week to help students build essential skills and be more successful after college.

In the midst of the madness, BICC brought some fun to the festivities with its second annual Mr. and Miss Business Pageant. Contestants strutted their stuff on the cat walk, winking at the judges trying to make a good impression.

Throughout the event, raffle prizes were given away, and the audience was entertained by dance and musical performances.

The pageant consisted of four stages before the winners were announced. First, was the introduction of the 16 contestants as they walked across the stage, and the audience members waved posters and rooted for their favorite student.

The second stage of the competition required the contestants to show the audience what NOT to wear to a business interview. Participant Lydia Wang ’16 walked with confidence in her warm-up suit and ice skates while Thomas Morrissey ’14 rocked a tie-dye shirt and swim shorts.

The pageant got back to business during the third stage when contestants answered serious interview questions in their professional business attire.

Lastly, the students showed off a special talent. Alfred Estaca played “Spanish Romance” on his guitar, and Jessica Torres ’15 performed a hip-shaking hula dance.

When it was time for the judges to make their final decision, all the participants lined up on stage, and last year’s winner, Sam Cisneros ’15, crowned the new 2014 Mr. and Miss Business: Kevin Chan, representing the American Marketing Association, and Hannah Chapman ‘16, representing the BICC.

The event was sponsored by all the business clubs at Cal State Fullerton, including Delta Sigma Pi, the American Marketing Association, Phi Beta Lambda, the Entrepreneur Society, Latino Business Students Association and the Economics Association.

The panel of five judges included Bernadette Medrano, Mark Mantey of the Sales Leadership Center, Giseli Medali of Cosmo Makeup Academy, Lindsey Vitrano of Tek Systems and Armin Medali of Jalapenos Mexican Restaurant.
