The Business Inter-Club Council (BICC) and ASI sponsored the event, which included complimentary lunch and beverages for those in attendance. The purpose was for Mihaylo students to learn more about their college and its variety of clubs, as well as inquire about academics, professors and tuition, according to Neda Ghafourian, 21, Vice President of Corporate Relations for the BICC.
This was the second Meet the Dean gathering this semester. The last one was a month ago and they’re trying to host them more often. This Meet the Dean involved a Q & A session where participants could speak to Dean Puri directly. One student asked about becoming active on campus and how she should go about doing it.
“I think every student needs to get involved in some organization on campus, some activity outside of class,” Dean Puri replied. Campus participation looks good on a resume, but he also noted the social benefits such as “making friends and getting to know each other.”
There are currently 24 business-related organizations on campus.
“Pick one or two that align with your interests,” he said.
The event intended to draw in all types of students. During the meeting, Dean Puri unveiled a fresh Mihaylo feature.
“For the first time, the college is going to have our own Mihaylo College-based career advisement center,” said Dean Puri. “We’re calling it Mihaylo Career Services.”
