Megan Jimenez was recently awarded the Outstanding Student scholarship by the Executive Council, but there were also two other finalists who each received $750 for their hard work and contributions. Scott Kueny and Carlos Duenas have both demonstrated great drive and diligence through their academic careers.
Kueny devoted much of his time and effort for the benefit of the overall business student body. As president of the Business Inter-Club Council (BICC), it was Kueny’s responsibility to organize and lead the efforts of various business clubs, organizations, and fraternities toward achieving collaborative goals. He raised sponsorships and donations for the BICC to host Mihaylo College’s annual Business Week event. In the summer of 2008, he was accepted into an MTV Networks marketing internship where he gained first-hand sales and marketing experience that he says laid the foundation for the rest of his academic studies.
Duenas’ story is a bit different; straight out of high school Duenas tried his hand in the mortgage industry and quickly made his way up the ranks with his stellar leadership skills and work ethic. He eventually earned a managerial position at E*Trade where he trained hundreds of employees during his years there. When the mortgage industry collapsed, however, Duenas found himself out of a job. But he realized that this misfortune could in fact be an opportunity and decided to use this time to earn his college degree. Not even three years later, Carlos Duenas has earned 132 units and is graduating with a bachelor’s degree in finance.
Congratulations & best wishes Kueny and Duenas!!!
