Beta Alpha Psi

Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) is an honorary organization for Financial Information students and professionals. Beta Alpha Psi provides opportunities for development of technical and professional skills to complement university education; participation in community service; and interaction among students, faculty, and professionals.

BAP’s weekly meetings are comprised of speakers from public accounting firms, government institutions, and private companies. The speakers discuss a variety of topics including recruiting advice, the difference between audit and tax, and general information about their company.  

Lunch is provided. Attire is casual, but students are encouraged to dress more formally to make a positive impression on the speaking firm.

California State University, Fullerton has one of the largest accounting organizations in the state. The Accounting Society is a non-profit organization run by students. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

CSUF students offer free income tax return preparation and filing assistance. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is an IRS-sponsored community program. Service is first come, first serve and open to the public. Prospective clients must bring a valid photo ID, Social Security Card, wage and earning statements, bank and routing numbers, and a copy of last year’s federal and state returns if available. Annual incomes can be no greater than $40,000 for single filers.

Is Executive Salary too High?

Drs. Terry Grant and Gerry Grant talk about their studies into executive salaries at S&P500 companies. Legislation over the past 18 years has required companies to disclose more and more about the compensation given to CEO’s and other top executives. Listen in to their findings of how fairly these compensation packages are awarded.

Both Dr. Terry Grant and Dr. Gerry Grant are professors in the Accounting Department of Mihaylo College of Business and Economics, California State University, Fullerton. Dr. Terry Grant is Associate Dean there.
